Archery Equipment Tip #1
Using Cover Scents

One of the most important pieces of archery equipment is actually personal hygine. Scentlock clothes and UV scent free detergents are not enough to fool a bear, Bull Elk or Trophy Bucks. What to do before archery opening day.

Most archery hunters, seasoned and new have read the articles, have seen the TV commercials on OLN about scent control and how important it is to the archery hunter. All the technology we have today still cannot change the warm humid weather of a Georgia swamp, the pines in Alabama, a Florida Oak Hammock in late September. No different if you are hunting Rocky Mountain Elk, weather can, has and always will change. If you are human you will sweat.

However, there are a few simple things that you an archery hunter can change to improve your chances to bag that trophy. It does not matter how expensive your archery equipment is, or whether you use your chosen cover scents properly.  Remember, this technology is after all man made from soap to scentlock fabric.

You the hunter need to focus on your natural body chemistry. A week before opening day watch what you eat. Don’t eat foods high in garlic, onions, fat. Stay away from spicy foods like, Mexican, hot peppers, and oily foods.  These foods increase body temperature. When you're sweat becomes air born it carries your scent and give you away to anything with an olfactory organ. So try to eat foods that are more natural with fewer spices. Don’t worry its not forever. Believe me you will live. Try to maintain your diet throughout archery season. Good luck.
